Fresh Ideas for Fall

With the changing of the seasons comes changes of clothes, food, and exercise. In today’s guest post Kathy is talking about fresh ideas for fall.

As much as I hate to admit it, summer is coming to a close.  My favorite time of the year is the spring and summer runs a close second.  I know I am definitely in the minority but I am not a big fan of fall.  I try to make it work for me.  I do like fall and winter clothes so I am looking forward to shopping for new sweaters and boots!

As we get ready to start a new season, I like to think it is time to start new healthy habits.  Now is a good time to re-evaluate what you have been doing.  Is your weight loss tapering off?  Not getting in as much exercise as you did in the beginning or maybe you are not tracking your food like you did early on. Have you added some extra food that you didn’t eat in the beginning?   Just take a few minutes and think about things that you could change or go back to.

Hopefully you are going strong with your weight loss and healthy eating.  Everyone could use something new and fresh.  What can it be for you?  Maybe a new recipe?  Try something different with your fall vegetables.  Last year I tried spaghetti squash for the first time.  I really enjoyed it!  I am looking for some new pumpkin recipes.  When I think of pumpkin, I think of desserts.  Pumpkin rolls, pumpkin pie, maybe pumpkin muffins.  Pumpkin is a very healthy food, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.    Pumpkin is low in fat and has disease fighting nutrients.  Why wouldn’t you want to eat it more than once or twice a year?

You may also want to switch up your exercise.  If you have been working out outdoors, you may want to try some indoor exercises.  I would rather be out walking/running or playing sports but the weather doesn’t always cooperate when the weather changes.  Have a plan of what you want to do on the cold or rainy days.  Having a friend or partner is a lot of fun.  Take a yoga or zumba class.

Switching things around helps to keep you on track.  It can also prevent boredom.  I like to think about the things that work the best and branch out from there.

As the seasons change, so can our mundane habits.  Now is a good time to make some change of our own.
