You’ve used baking soda in cooking but there are so many other uses for it – here are 10!

  1. Surface Scrub – Clean coffee stains from the inside of the pot, scrub the kitchen sink, microwaves, and clean stainless steel appliances. Sprinkle baking soda and rub gently with a damp cloth, adding water as necessary.
  2. Deodorize your Refrigerator – Fill a small bowl with baking soda and place in the fridge. Baking soda will soak up the smells.
  3. Clear a Drain – Sprinkle a 1/4 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup of vinegar. Place a jar or can on the drain to keep the reaction moving down the pipes.
  4. Treat Acne Spots – Create a paste with baking soda and water and apply to the spot.  This will help to dry it out.
  5. Create a Relaxing Bath – Dissolve 1/2 cup of baking soda in a hot bath. The baking soda will soften your skin. You can also create a bath for your feet.
  6. Fill Holes in Drywall – Fill holes in a dry wall with a paste of baking soda and water.
  7. Remove a Stain – If you spill oil on your clothes, such as a drop of salad dressing, quickly sprinkle baking soda on the stain. The baking soda will suck up the oil. To go one step further, soak the garment in a bowl dish soap and water overnight and launder and hang dry.
  8. Deodorize shoes – Sprinkle baking powder in smelly shoes to absorb the odor. Shake the shoe over a garbage can before wearing.
  9. Insect bites and stings – Apply a paste of water and baking soda to a bee sting or bug bites to help with irritation.
  10. Keep Flowers Fresh – Add a teaspoon of baking soda to a vase with fresh cut flowers to make it last longer.
