This is my Dad’s favorite cookie recipe. I bake these cookies for him whenever he visits. I’d like to share the recipe with you so that you can make them for your Dad too. 🙂 Nothing compares to warm cookies out of the oven.
Dad’s Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 3 1/3 Cups all-purpose white flour
- 3/4 Teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 Teaspoon salt
- 2 Sticks of butter, melted and cooled
- 1 1/4 Cups packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 Cup white sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Egg yolks
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and line baking sheets with parchment paper, not necessary but very helpful.
Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl and set aside.
Beat the butter and sugars using your mixer on medium speed – 1 to 2 minutes until combined. Beat in the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla, about 30 seconds, scraping down the bowl and beaters as needed.
Reduce the speed to low and slowly add in the flour mixture until combined. Mix in the chocolate chips.
Use a ice cream scoop or a spoonful to roll the dough into a ball. Bake for 17 to 20 minutes. Allow the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes, serve warm or cool on a wire rack.
Makes 24 cookies.
