Are you caught up in the Olympic games?! Bring that excitement to your work out in today’s guest post.
The Olympics are well underway and it just amazes me what these athletes can do! I have to admit that I don’t watch all of the events but one of my favorites is gymnastics. I am in awe over the floor event. I don’t know how it is possible to be able to jump from the floor and do flips, twirls, spins, land on their feet and go right into the next part of the routine!
There are only a select few that have that kind of ability and talent and they have trained all of their lives. Most of us haven’t spent that kind of time in a physical training program but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a little time to make us be the most fit and healthiest that we possibly can be. Taking just 30 minutes a day can make a huge difference.
I am such a fan of walking. Walking played an important roll in my weight loss. It is something that just about everyone can do. Whether you are a just starting to get in shape or have been exercising for a while, it is certainly beneficial. It is a great cardio exercise, it builds muscle and helps burn calories, and it helps with stress.
If walking isn’t something that you would like to do, why not try basic exercises. Using your own body weight as resistance is a great way to build muscle. Remember your old gym classes…Sit ups, push ups, leg lifts, arm circles? Those still work! If you are just beginning, try just doing a few sit ups in a day. Maybe during a commercial break when you are watching television, make a couple of trips up and down the stairs when you get home from work. Do a few push ups while dinner is in the oven. Just a little something everyday can make a difference. Try to add a few more exercises or repetitions every few days. If you don’t like an activity, try a new one. There are so many different things that you can try. Make it a goal to do something everyday!
I believe that everyone needs to take a little time for themselves. With everything that we do throughout the day, it is hard to find the time but it is well worth it! Look at your calendar…see where you can put your name in a time slot. We may not get to be Olympic athletes but we can look and feel the best that we can be!
